Feeding spots

space

It all started many years ago with 2 feeding stations.
Anca set up one opposite her place of work, Trusesti High School, and the other in the back of the orphanage for children of Trusesti.

Over the last few years, more and more fixed as well as migratory feeding sites have been added around the municipality of Trusesti. The number of these many places varies. For many street dogs, these places are essential for survival, as they cannot find enough food in the surrounding area or their owners (if they have any) do not want to or cannot feed them sufficiently. Depending on the time of year (more in winter), Anca needs about 2 to 3 bags (20-30 kg) of dry food bags and some wet food cans daily to stock all her feeding places.

Equally important at the feeding sites are the water containers placed there. In midsummer, many streams dry up and the street animals cannot find water and often suffer from lack of water and are dehydrated.

In addition, these places also serve as a way to catch street animals so that they can be neutered. After a certain recovery period, Anca brings these neutered animals back and continues to provide them with food and water at these places - every day.

However, there are not only trusting dogs and cats on the streets and paths around the municipality of Trusesti, but also very shy and fearful ones that have experienced such terrible suffering and pain at the hands of humans that they no longer allow themselves to be touched and immediately take flight as soon as they even catch sight of humans. These animals also often suffer from hunger and cannot feed themselves sufficiently. By feeding them regularly and with patience, Anca has now succeeded several times in catching these shy dogs and having them neutered.

But it is not only the nutrition and castration of the street dogs that is important, but also their health. Over time, Anca builds up a relationship of trust with the street dogs so that she can also treat the animals with spot-on preparations and worming tablets. Anca can also help the dogs with injuries.

Here we would like to introduce you to a few of the many feeding places so that you can get a small insight into how important these places are for the street animals.

A small selection of the feeding places

High School of TrusestiThe high school of Trusesti is Anca's workplace. 6 peaceful and friendly dogs appear on the school grounds every morning for their breakfast, which Anca brings for them.

This feeding place is the first and oldest on Anca's tour.

A resting place near the village of Drislea

The first feeding place we would like to introduce here is also the first stop on Aca's daily feeding tour. It is a resting place on the main road from Botosani to Trusesti. This road leads past or through several villages almost to the border with Moldova.

A supplementary report, as well as more photos/videos of the rest area can be found here.

The area of the Trusesti retirement home

At the village border of Trusesti is the old people's home.
10 peaceful but shy animals had taken up residence in the rear part of the senior citizens' home grounds.

In an elaborate castration campaign (in 2020), Anca, together with her vet, managed to catch and castrate these dogs. Since then, this pack has been on Anca's list of daily feedings.

The area behind the train station

The train station of Trusesti is located on the village border.
The landscape here resembles a barren piece of wilderness. Hard, robust grass and scrub, plus mountains of rubble and eroded soil.

And behind the station is a converted company site. This place is the "home" of 5 street dogs and 1 tomcat.

A supplementary report, as well as more photos/videos of this feeding station can be found here.

Ion's house

A small farmhouse with a small piece of land and its owner, this is the refuge of 6 street dogs and several street cats.

Ion, an elderly gentleman was the owner and had a big heart for street animals. He saw the need of the animals and although he himself lived in poor conditions, he always had some of his own food left over to give to a hungry dog or cat.

A supplementary report, as well as more photos/videos of this feeding station can be found here.

The presentation of other feeding stations will follow shortly

for example:
In the industrial area, at the high school, at the orphanage,
at a gas-station, another rest area, etc.
